Milan vs Udinese: Preview
Milan form analysis
AC Milan’s recent run of games has showcased an attack with real potency even if some defensive issues remain. They started with an excellent come from behind 1-3 away win at Cagliari thanks to goals from Okafor, Tomori and Loftus-Cheek after initially going behind. Building on this, Milan secured an impressive 2-0 home win over Lazio courtesy of strikes from Pulisic and Okafor in a dominant display.
However, problems surfaced at the back in a nervy 1-0 away win at Genoa, needing a late Pulisic goal to clinch the points despite intense pressure. This continued next game as they suffered a disappointing 0-1 home loss to rivals Juventus from a sloppy second half goal. Most recently, Milan threw away a two goal lead at home to draw 2-2 with Napoli, exposing frailties on the counter. Overall, Milan carry serious attacking threat with the likes of Giroud and Leao impressing but defensively they remain vulnerable at times. Finding greater balance could see them push for the title this season.
Udinese form analysis
Udinese’s recent run of games has shown a stubborn defense capable of frustrating opponents but attacking struggles at times. They started with an expected heavy 4-1 loss away at Napoli, outclassed by the title challengers despite Samardzic’s late consolation. There was a much improved display next game as they drew 2-2 at home with Genoa in a thriller – twice pegged back by Guðmundsson goals before snatching a late equalizer.
Building on this gritty performance, Udinese held Empoli to a 0-0 away draw, defending deeply and limiting chances in a battling display. However, problems in attack surfaced in a 1-1 home draw with Lecce. Needing a Thauvin penalty to lead before conceding late. Most recently they earned a decent 1-1 away draw at Monza, going behind before Lucca’s equalizer maintained their unbeaten run. Overall, Udinese are extremely tough to beat but lack an attacking punch.
