Chandler and McGregor were coaches on The Ultimate Fighter last summer, where they built a rivalry and were eventually scheduled to fight in the welterweight main event. McGregor confirmed that he suffered an injury to his pinky toe and had to withdraw from the fight against Chandler. “The Notorious” stated in his Instagram post that he suffered the injury before the press conference, which will take longer to heal than he thought he would. McGregor further stated that he wants to give his best performance in this fight for his fans, so after consulting his doctors, he decided to postpone the fight.

McGregor also gave some details about his injury backstage at the Bellator Champions Series event on Saturday and suggested his return could come in August or September. However, UFC President Dana White was quick to shoot down rumors of any new dates being worked on while McGregor is injured. During a post-fight conference, White stated that he is not going to do anything until he knows that McGregor is healthy and for now, it is not even worth talking about it.
