UFC Featherweight Champion Ilia Topuria has also added his voice to the criticism surrounding Conor McGregor’s recent withdrawal from UFC 303. “El Matador” claimed without mincing words that the Irishman is “mentally broken.”
“The Notorious” was scheduled to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in a welterweight bout. However, he had to withdraw from his comeback fight after suffering a fracture in his left foot that forced him to rule out for a period of two months. Topuria has now joined the list of fighters who have criticized the former UFC champion, including Rafael dos Anjos, Chael Sonnen and most notably Islam Makhachev, who labeled McGregor a “chicken” on social media.
Topuria criticized the former champion
In response to McGregor’s withdrawal, Topuria said, “You are mentally broken. That’s your biggest lesson. You doubt yourself, your abilities, and your preparation, that’s why you don’t show up. You are a b***ch.”
Previously, Rafael dos Anjos, who was mocked by McGregor for withdrawing from a scheduled bout due to a broken foot, shared photos comparing their injuries.
RDA posted two photos comparing his and McGregor’s injuries and wrote that you finally got exposed Conor. Rafael stated that McGregor got a pinky toe injury while he got a broken foot.
Amid criticism from McGregor, Ilia Topuria is preparing for his return, possibly by the end of this year. He has been linked with a potential bout against former featherweight kingpin and current BMF titleholder Max Holloway.
McGregor explained how he got injured
Two days ago, McGregor explained in an Instagram post how he injured his toe while training for UFC 303. The Irishman stated that he had a lapse in concentration and joined a training session without wearing full protective gear and his toe got hit off the elbow and broke completely. He further stated that it was going to take a few weeks.
