MMA fighter Ryan Curtis suffered a catastrophic and fatal spine injury during training a few days ago, leading to the end of his mixed martial arts career and threatening paralysis. Curtis competed in organizations such as Cage Warriors and Bellator MMA and amassed a 6-4 record. After the incident, he lost mobility in his arms and legs. Recently, Ryan’s teammate and top-ranked Bellator featherweight Leah McCourt gave an update about his condition and revealed that he currently has no movement in his legs or left arm.
McGregor donated money to support Curtis
Leah McCourt has shared an update on Curtis, who suffered the injuries during a training session. Despite enduring a broken back, broken neck and spinal deformity resulting in no movement from the neck down, Curtis has been consoled by the support and true love of well-wishers.
A GoFundMe campaign was started by McCourt that has raised £118,550 till now to support Ryan’s rehabilitation, necessary treatment, recovery and also to support his family. Curtis is still being treated in the ICU. Conor McGregor has also lent his voice and money to support the fighter after his tragic injury.
Leah expressed gratitude for the support and messages
McCourt expressed gratitude for the overwhelming messages of support for Ryan. She shared a picture with him on Instagram and wrote, “Ryan’s mood is good during the day but at night it can be overwhelming and panicky. This is a huge life altering event and the realization of what is happening to him is a lot to cope with right now. If you can please pray for peace over Ryan’s mind at night time. Ryan is still in ICU and the main focus is his recovery from the major surgery and trauma his body has gone through, for him to be able to breathe on his own without extra help.”

Leah has indicated that Ryan Curtis is expected to be hospitalized for at least five months after suffering life-changing injuries, effectively ending his professional MMA career. In support of Curtis and his family, she encouraged donations on the page “GoFundMe” to defray medical expenses and living costs. Curtis has a wife and a two-year-old daughter, the contribution is aimed at providing financial support to them during this crucial time.
