WWE NXT is getting pretty interesting lately, and fans got an exciting announcement from Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on the recent episode. The American Nightmare announced that on June 18, NXT will feature a twenty-five man battle royal, and the winner will face Trick Williams at NXT Heatwave. The interesting part is that Cody said stars from other promotions could be involved as well. This led to former WWE Superstar and current TNA star Matt Hardy teasing on social media that he could be a part of the battle royal as well.
WWE has done many crossovers with TNA
WWE has worked with the TNA over the past few years, with Mickie James appearing at the Women’s Royal Rumble a few years ago and recently the Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace competing at this year’s Royal Rumble before challenging NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez at NXT Battleground.
While Trick Williams didn’t face any TNA stars at Battleground, he did have a surprising opponent in the form of former AEW star Ethan Page. During the announcement of the battle royal, Cody said, “You may know some of them, but some of them might be from different locker rooms.”
Matt Hardy teased his participation
The announcement prompted Matt Hardy, who currently wrestles in TNA, to take to X, where he retweeted Cody Rhodes’ announcement and wrote, “After I procure the TNA title of the World on Friday, I might just delete 24 Obnoxious ants and also become the NXT Champion.”
Matt Hardy is set to face Moose on June 14 at Against All Odds for the TNA Championship and while he has dropped hints before that didn’t come true, such as hinting that he could be part of Uncle Howdy’s new faction, his appearance in NXT isn’t far off now.

WWE is doing a crossover with TNA, so it actually makes sense for Matt Hardy to be included in the battle royal. The interesting thing is that Matt is still a free agent and is not contracted with TNA. This means he could return to WWE full-time. Jeff Hardy could also be involved, as his AEW contract is set to expire soon. If Matt Hardy appears in NXT next week, it could be the first step towards seeing the eventual reunion of the Hardy Boyz in WWE.
