Manny Pacquiao officially retired from professional boxing in 2021. However, he is considering a comeback for the right opponent, with Conor McGregor being one of the possibilities. Since his retirement following a loss to Yordenis Ugas in his last professional fight, “Pacman” has appeared in several exhibition bouts. This year, he is scheduled to take part in two exhibitions, including a rematch against Floyd Mayweather in Japan for RIZIN.
Gibbons about Pacquiao
Now the head of Knucklehead Boxing Club, Sean Gibbons, recently revealed that Manny Pacquiao is technically out of retirement and is looking forward to facing opponents like Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia. With about a year left on his schedule, Pacquiao is driven by a desire to compete. Gibbons noted that Pacquio is in excellent condition and is currently training for an exhibition, hopefully leading to more significant opportunities.
Gibbons envisions a professional comeback for Pacquiao. He also highlighted the long-rumored matchup between Manny and Conor McGregor, saying it would be a sensation in Saudi Arabia. He suggested Saudi Arabia, especially praise his excellency Turki Alalshaikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, for his enthusiasm for hosting important events. Gibbons sees the potential fight between Pacquiao and McGregor as an interesting and entertaining bout that would bring together two of the greatest names in combat sports.
McGregor wants to fight Manny as well
During an event in Saudi Arabia last year, Conor McGregor claimed that Manny Pacquiao owed him $8 million as a result of a failed two-fight deal between them. The planned fight in 2021 was canceled due to strained relations with McGregor’s management agency, Paradigm Sports, which later emerged victorious in a legal dispute against Pacquiao. Despite the legal fees, McGregor has expressed his willingness to waive them if Pacquio agrees to face him.
The Notorious once said, “Manny already owes me $8 million through the court. He was signed to my management company and he didn’t honor his deal. So fight at my weight, and I’ll pay that bill.” He made these comments while attending the Day of Reckoning boxing event in Saudi Arabia, which also featured Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.
