Maninder Singh Biography: Maninder Singh is a professional Kabaddi player from India who competes for the national team. He is the Bengal Warriors’ captain and top raider in the Pro Kabaddi League. Maninder is thought to be among the league’s top raiders. In 2019, he guided the Bengal Warriors to their first-ever PKL championship. Punjab, India’s Hoshiarpur district, is home to Maninder Singh’s birthplace. He currently resides in Jalandhar and graduated from Khalsa College in Amritsar. He works for the Punjab Police.

Career

Season 1

In 2014, he began his Pro Kabaddi League career as a player with the Jaipur Pink Panthers. With 130 raid points, he was statistically ranked as the third-greatest raider of the season, and the squad won the league’s debut season.

Season 5

Following this strong start to his career, he suffered an injury that kept him out of the league for the following three seasons until the Bengal Warriors purchased him in 2017. He had an incredible return to the game, finishing with 190 raid points. He scored numerous important points for the team and was a deadly raider on the mat.

Season 6

With his 400 and 500 raid point scores during the 2018–19 Pro Kabaddi League season, he set a new record for fastest raider. 22 games yielded 206 raid points for him.

Season 7

2019 saw them part ways with PO Surjeet Singh, their skipper for the previous two seasons. It was declared that Maninder would lead his team as captain. He became the second-quickest raider to reach 600 points (68 matches) in the PKL in a match versus the Patna Pirates, after Pardeep Narwal (63 matches). With an average of 10 raid points per game, he guided his side to the playoffs. However, he suffered an injury and dislocated his shoulder during the penultimate league stage. Bengal Warriors defeated Dabang Delhi in The Arena to win their first-ever PKL championship, despite his absence on the mat. Maninder came within two points of his greatest performance to date. Maninder Singh On Injury Recovery

Maninder Singh of the Bengal Warriors suffered an injury during the semi-final match against U Mumba in Season 7 of the 2012 Pro Kabaddi League. As a result, he was unable to witness the historic event in which his side overcame Dabang Delhi K.C. to win the PKL Trophy. Being out of the game was difficult for him, particularly given his form, but it was essential for the team as a whole, not just for him.

Maninder remarked, “I was devastated when I was hurt during the semifinal game. I made an effort to contain my annoyance and rage. I would not be making it to the final, as the doctors informed me. I was devastated to hear this news since I was leading the team and wanted to do well in the finals of the Vivo Pro Kabaddi competition.”

Even so, he chose to see the bright side of things and concentrate on the fact that his team triumphed despite his absence from the game. The raider commented about that decisive victory: “I was really happy when the Bengal Warriors lifted the trophy, and I forgot about my injury at that moment. We put a lot of effort into earning the title, and the results showed in the championship.”

Even so, it’s crucial to exercise patience when dealing with injuries and avoid straining the affected muscles. It is equally crucial to maintain your optimistic attitude and not let it break you. Maninder saw this injury as a setback, but it also presented an opportunity for him to bounce back stronger.

He continued, “Life has given me another chance to demonstrate my abilities. Now that my injury has healed, I’m prepared to show off on the mat anytime I get the chance.”

Season 8

In the Pro Kabaddi League season of 2021–2022, Maninder was kept on as the Bengal Warriors captain. He accomplished the extraordinary achievement of contributing 100% of his team’s raid points in a match against U Mumba, scoring 17 raid points by himself. In Season 8, Maninder also recorded a career-high nine straight Super 10s, or scoring ten raid points in a single game. On January 24, in a game against the Jaipur Pink Panthers, he became the second fastest player in Pro Kabaddi history—93 matches—to reach the 900-raid point milestone. He was only the fourth player in history to do it. The Bengal Warriors were unable to make the playoffs despite Maninder’s outstanding effort. With 262 raid points, he rose to the third rank among PKL 8’s raiders. 

Throughout the season, Mani completed 11 super raids and scored 16 super 10s. He showed his expertise in multi-point raids.

Season 9

In PKL season 9, the Bengal Warriors kept Maninder as their captain. In the Warriors’ first-ever game against the Haryana Steelers, he became just the second player in Pro Kabaddi League history to reach 1000 raid points, behind Pardeep Narwal. On November 5, he defeated the Gujarat Giants 45–50 by scoring his career-high 20 raid points in a single game.
