Lucknow Super Giants team for IPL 2024 looks set after the culmination of the IPL 2024 auction on December 19 (Tuesday). LSG reached playoffs in both seasons they have played in the Indian Premier League, so far. In their third season next year, they would be looking no less than holding the IPL trophy.
Lucknow Super Giants went into the mini-auction with the smallest purse of INR 13.15 crore, needing to fill six slots. They invested the most amount of money in Indian pacer Shivam Mavi, who was picked for 6.4 crores.
Prior to the auction, they had traded off Avesh Khan and to fill his shoes, Shivam Mavi could be a good bet. Besides, M Siddharth has been picked for 2.4 crores. He might not play a game, though, with Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra ahead in the pecking order.
David Willey has also been brought into the side for 2 crores. LSG now have three foreign pace options, including Mark Wood and Naveen Ul Haq. Mohsin Khan has been retained in the side and will, definitely, be a player to watch out for.
Ashton Turner’s acquisition for INR 1 crore is a steal. He could give solidity in the middle-order if needed. To resolve their middle-order woes, they also traded in Devdutt Padikkal prior to the auction. The Southpaw would be seen playing in the middle-order for LSG in the upcoming season.
KL Rahul is fit and should lead the side from the front. Kyle Mayer made Quinton de Kock sit in several games last season. It will be interesting to see who will they start with.
Uncapped Players Bought By Lucknow Super Giants
As far as the uncapped players are concerned, LSG has invested in the likes of Arshin Kulkarni (20 lakhs) and Arshad Khan (20 lakhs), both at their base prices.
For the unversed, Andy Flower has parted ways with the franchise and Australian former opener, Justin Langer is Lucknow Super Giants’ new coach for the upcoming season.
