Vasiliy Lomachenko has once again proved that he is still an elite with a dominating performance over George Kambosos Jr. He secured an 11th-round finish to secure the IBF lightweight title at Perth’s RAC Arena. The win marks Lomachenko’s fourth world title in three different weight classes, solidifying his status as a boxing veteran.
Lomachenko dominated the whole bout
The Matrix returned after a one-year hiatus, following his loss to Deven Haney. Lomachenko showcased his stunning footwork by systematically dominating his opponent for 10 rounds. However, it was the 11th round when the Ukrainian continued relentless attacks and eventually floored Kambosos with accurate body shots. Despite Kambosos’ effort to move forward, Lomachenko’s attack prompted his corner to intervene, throwing in the towel.
Throughout the match, Lomochenko’s dominance was clearly seen, which was also reflected in Compubox’s punch statistics. Following his win, Lomachenko addressed speculation about a possible clash with Gervonta Davis, responding to a tweet from Davis during the fight. He affirmed his commitment to face any challenge, saying, “During my boxing career, I have never run around and always taken fights. After I rest a little bit, we can talk about the future.”
Kambosos is struggling to find his form back
In 2021, Kambosos shocked the boxing world with his victory over Teofimo Lopez, claiming the unified lightweight championship. However, since then, he has struggled to repeat his previous success. The Australian suffered two defeats at the hands of Devin Haney, losing his titles in the process. While he managed to secure the IBO lightweight title via a controversial decision against Maxi Hughes, an impressive performance from Lomachenko capped his momentum.

With his recent setbacks, it seems unlikely that Vasiliy will be able to secure high-profile fights in the near future. Despite his remarkable win over Lopez, “Ferocious The Emperor” is now being labeled as a one-hit wonder, struggling with the challenge of finding his streak again.
