Livingston vs Motherwell: Preview
Livingston form analysis
Livi has struggled at both ends recently, prone to conceding cheaply while failing to create many dangerous scoring chances. On February 24th, Livingston fell 3-2 away at Ross County after blowing a two-goal lead they battled back to take with Anderson’s brace overridden by Brophy and late heroics from Sims. Earlier on February 17th, Livingston managed a 1-0 home win over St. Mirren thanks to a Yengi first half strike.
Prior to that though, Livingston fell 1-0 at home to Kilmarnock after conceding late to Watkins. On February 3rd, Livingston was thoroughly outclassed in a 3-0 away loss at Rangers. Livingston’s best recent performance came in a chaotic 2-2 home draw with Ross County on January 31st, powered by goals from Pittman and late equalizer Mackay. Overall though, Livingston lacks composure and quality at both ends to consistently trouble opponents. Major upgrades in talent and increased organization could help transform Livingston’s form.
Motherwell form analysis
Motherwell has shown occasional attacking promise recently but defensive issues have badly undermined positive performances. On February 25th, Motherwell lost 3-1 at home to Celtic after Spittal’s opener was erased by Idah and a late Palma strike. Earlier on February 17th, Motherwell fell 2-0 at home to Hearts, stifled by a disciplined defensive performance. Prior to that mixed run, Motherwell played to a chaotic 3-3 draw at Aberdeen on February 15th, featuring a Bair brace and Devine after Motherwell burst to a 3-0 lead.
On February 7th, Motherwell delivered an offensive masterclass in a 5-0 thrashing of Ross County led by goals from Bair, Spittal and Halliday. Motherwell’s best recent result was a 1-1 home draw with Kilmarnock on February 3rd with Bair answering Mayo’s opener. So Motherwell clearly has the talent to overwhelm teams offensively but porous defending has undermined too many positive performances. Greater organization and discipline defensively is vital moving forward.
