The 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is around the corner and all the franchises are gearing up to put their best foot forward. Meanwhile, the teams have dealt with major blows as a lot of players have been ruled out due to different reasons.
While some have withdrawn owing to personal reasons, a few of them have been recovering from respective injuries. On that note, let’s take a look at the list of the players who have been ruled out of the IPL 2024.
England batter, Harry Brook is the latest to opt out of IPL 2024. Brook’s grandmother, recently, passed away and the England batter urged the team management to spend time with his family in this tough period. Brook’s absence comes as a massive blow for Delhi.
Kolkata’s Jason Roy, recently, withdrew his name from the upcoming season. The English batsman has been on the road for quite a while and with a busy summer ahead, he urged to go back home and spend time with his family. His counterpart Gus Atkinson has also opted out to manage his workload ahead of the T20 World Cup.
As per recent reports, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer’s back injury has flared up again and he could miss the first few games as well.
Mohammad Shami To Miss Both IPL 2024 And T20 WC 2024
Indian fast bowler, Mohammad Shami underwent surgery for the ankle injury sustained in February. He will be missing the entirety of the tournament. Also, Mathew Wade could miss the first couple of games for Gujarat as he will be playing the Sheffield Shield final in Australia, which is slated to take place from the 21st to the 25th of March.
England fast bowler, Mark Wood has been ruled out of IPL 2024. England and Wales Cricket Board are keen to manage his workload with the T20 World Cup ahead. He won’t be seen playing for Lucknow this season and has been replaced by Shemar Joseph, the latest West Indies fast-bowling sensation.
Devon Conway To Miss First Phase of The Tournament
As for Chennai Super Kings, Devon Conway recently underwent surgery on his thumb and will take at least eight weeks to recover. CSK hasn’t announced a replacement for him as yet.
Rajasthan Royals’ fast bowler, Prasidh Krishna will be missing his second consecutive IPL season. He, recently, injured his quadriceps tendons during a Ranji Trophy clash and underwent surgery for the same. Rajasthan-based franchise is yet to announce a replacement for him.
