Lionel Messi on Man Utd Star Alejandro Garnacho
Garnacho, who has been one of the standout performers for United over the past year, received significant recognition from Messi in the voting for the Kopa Trophy.
The award, which honors the best player in the world under the age of 21, saw Garnacho earn high praise from several football legends. Although he did not make it onto the overall podium, Messi was one of four former Ballon d’Or winners to place Garnacho in their top three.
The Kopa Trophy was ultimately awarded to Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal, who garnered an impressive 113 points, setting a record for the award since its inception in 2018. Real Madrid’s Arda Guler took second place, while Garnacho’s Manchester United teammate, Kobbie Mainoo, secured third.
Despite not clinching the trophy, Garnacho’s inclusion in the top rankings by illustrious names like Messi, Karim Benzema, and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge speaks volumes about his growing reputation in the football world.
Dutch legend Marco van Basten was the only voter to rank Garnacho second, highlighting the high regard in which the young Argentine is held.
“Of course, it’s a bit difficult at this moment, but the most important thing is to keep going,” Garnacho told the United Review, reflecting on the season as Manchester United prepares to welcome new head coach Ruben Amorim.
“The season has only just started and we need to try and improve as a team to win every game and make our fans proud.”
Garnacho’s contributions on the pitch have been vital for Manchester United. He played a key role in their FA Cup final victory over Manchester City in May, a win that secured their qualification for the Europa League.
This season, his three goals in the Carabao Cup have helped the team reach the quarter-finals, showcasing his knack for stepping up in crucial moments.
With Ruben Amorim taking charge of United, Garnacho is poised to continue his development under the guidance of a manager known for nurturing young talent.
The Argentine starlet’s determination and skill have already caught the eye of one of football’s greatest ever players, Lionel Messi, and his future looks increasingly bright.
As Garnacho strives to improve and help his team succeed, the support from Messi and other football legends will undoubtedly serve as a source of inspiration.
United fans will be eagerly watching to see how their young star continues to evolve and contribute to the club’s success in the coming months.
