Lecce vs Napoli: Preview
Lecce form analysis
Lupi had an encouraging 2-2 draw away to Fiorentina, coming from two down to earn a point after goals from Rafia and Krstovic. They followed up with an excellent 2-0 home win over Salernitana thanks to strikes from Krstovic and Strefezza’s late penalty.
Lecce then earned a creditable 1-1 away draw at Monza, taking the lead through a Krstovic penalty before being pegged back by Colpani. Their next match saw them edge past Genoa 1-0 at home courtesy of Oudin’s winner to make it seven points from four games. Most recently, Lecce put up a good fight in a narrow 0-1 home loss to Juventus, undone by Milik’s second half strike.
Overall, Lecce have made an impressive start on their Serie A return under Marco Baroni after winning promotion. New striker Krstovic has added key goals, while the likes of Strefezza and Oudin have shone. They’ve competed well against superior opposition, made evident by the draws with Fiorentina and Monza. If Lecce can maintain this resilience and attacking spark, they have an excellent chance of Serie A survival this term. But Baroni will hope to turn spirited displays into wins as the season progresses.
Napoli form analysis
Napoli gained an impressive 3-1 win away at Frosinone thanks to a brace from striker Osimhen. Most recently, Napoli were held to a 0-0 away draw by Bologna, dropping points for the second consecutive game.
Overall, Napoli have showcased their attacking potential with 7 goals in 5 games. But there are concerns defensively having kept just one clean sheet.
The Lazio loss in particular exposed vulnerabilities at the back. If Napoli can tighten up defensively, their powerful attack gives them real title credentials. But they need to be more solid, especially away from home where they’ve already dropped 5 points.
