Lecce vs Juventus: Preview
Lecce form analysis
Lecce’s recent form in Serie A has been inconsistent. The club earning one win, three draws, and one loss across their past five league matches. They started this run of games with a narrow 2-1 home victory against Frosinone on December 16th thanks to goals from Remi Piccoli and Yevhen Ramadani to overcome an equalizer from Kaio Jorge. However, Lecce were then shut out 2-0 away at Inter Milan on December 23rd in a match where they failed to register a shot on goal. This was followed by another 1-0 away defeat to Atalanta on December 30th, conceding late to an Ademola Lookman strike.
Lecce stopped their losing run with a 1-1 home draw against Cagliari on January 6th, taking the lead through Valentin Gendrey but allowing Giacomo Oristanio to equalize for Cagliari in the second half. Most recently, Lecce suffered a third 1-0 away loss over this five game stretch against Lazio on January 14th from a Felipe Anderson goal. Based on these up and down results, Lecce has proven capable of competing well with bottom half opposition but lacks consistency and cutting edge against Serie A’s elite teams. Tightening defensively could aid their battle against relegation..
Juventus form analysis
Juventus’ recent form in Serie A has been positive. The club earning three wins and two draws across their past five league matches. They started this run with a 1-1 home draw against Genoa on December 16th, taking an early lead through a Federico Chiesa penalty but allowing Albert Gudmundsson to equalize for Genoa in the second half. Juventus then ground out a 2-1 away victory at Frosinone on December 23rd. Overcoming the hosts’ second half equalizer through goals from Kenan Yildiz and match-winner Dušan Vlahović.
On December 31st, Juventus earned a big 1-0 home win over rivals Roma thanks to Adrien Rabiot’s second half strike. They followed this up by coming from behind to defeat Salernitana 2-1 away from home on January 7th, with Vlahović netting a stoppage time winner after Samuel Iling-Junior had leveled the match. Most recently, Juventus cruised past Sassuolo 3-0 at home on January 17th with Vlahović bagging a brace and Chiesa adding a late third. Based on these positive results against varying opposition, Juventus seems to be finding strong form as they push for the title.
