Bronny James declares for 2024 NBA draft
The legendary LeBron James’ son, Bronny James, announced his daring decision to enter the NBA’s pre-draft arena while keeping his collegiate eligibility open and considering a transfer from USC. The 19-year-old sensation, clearly planning for the future, stated that he was willing to follow whatever route fate led him, even if it meant keeping the door open to a college education.
James demonstrated his steadfast dedication to his basketball career by announcing on social media that he is willing to compete for a highly sought-after slot in the NBA. After what he called an “amazing” rookie year at USC, he will also use the college transfer site to investigate playing for other schools.
LeBron James, the 39-year-old father of one of the greatest basketball players to have ever played in the NBA, has frequently stated that he would like to play with his son on the professional circuit.
“I need to be on the floor with my boy,” LeBron James told to the media. “I gotta be on the floor with Bronny.”
Bronny James NBA Draft College Stats:
James’s first year in college was anything but typical. The 19-year-old’s first season was postponed for four months when he experienced cardiac arrest during a workout in the summer. James was still limited to one minute of play for his first four games after his return.
It was a rough season for the freshmen and USC even when James returned to form. With an overall record of 15–18 and an 8–12 record that placed them tenth in the Pac-12, the Trojans were extremely disappointed.
In the event that James had considered himself a one-and-done possibility, he was denied the chance to demonstrate his abilities. Isaiah Collier, a freshman guard and the top talent in the 2023 high school class, and super senior guard Boogie Ellis have started him off the bench for most of the season.
Out of 25 appearances, James only managed three double figures. At least five assists in four of his games and multiple steals in five of his outings. Never did he hit more than two threes in a game; he only made multiple threes in three games.
Bronny James stats at USC:
Stat | Value |
---|---|
GP (Games Played) | 25 (6 GS) |
MP (Minutes Per Game) | 19.3 |
FG% (Field Goal Percentage) | 36.6% |
3P% (Three-Point Percentage) | 26.7% |
FT% (Free Throw Percentage) | 67.6% |
PPG (Points Per Game) | 4.8 |
RPG (Rebounds Per Game) | 2.8 |
APG (Assists Per Game) | 2.1 |
SPG (Steals Per Game) | 0.8 |
BPG (Blocks Per Game) | 0.2 |
Bronny James steps into the NBA Draft spotlight:
James has strong guard tools with a jacked build, impressive run-and-jump athleticism, and good lateral quickness. If he were gifted with his father’s height, however, James would be an exceptional prospect. Nevertheless, James is just 6’3″.
James is a spot-up shooter and excellent passer who can attack closeouts, but he has never been a prolific scorer. With his ability to shoot threes, protect point guards, and score in transition, it seems like he would be most comfortable playing with a big initiator like his father. The fact that James will share the limelight and the backcourt with an even greater potential in Isaiah Collier makes every NBA game a must-watch. James will be the most well-known player in college basketball come next season.
Bronny James NBA Draft projection:
- 2024 NBA Draft: Second-round pick
- 2025 NBA Draft: First-round pick (Chances, if not get selected in 2024)
It wouldn’t surprise me if a team was ready to take a chance on Bronny in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, despite the fact that he only scored 4.8 points per game and didn’t demonstrate one-and-done ability.
It’s not just about giving a team a better opportunity to pursue LeBron should he become available for free (though that is certainly a factor). After an odd one-season college career, why wouldn’t a team take a risk on the heir apparent to an all-time great and attempt to unlock his full potential in a draft class devoid of deep talent? The potential benefit is too substantial to ignore.
