Las Palmas vs Valencia: Preview
Las Palmas form analysis
Los Amarillos have found form over the past month, losing twice in five games while upsetting some of La Liga’s top sides along the way. This stretch began with a 2-1 home loss against league leaders Barcelona as El Haddadi struck to give Las Palmas the lead before falling late on. An emphatic 3-0 home win over Villarreal marked a real high point though as a Rodríguez inspired display downed Marcelino Toral’s men.
What followed was an excellent 2-0 away win at Rayo Vallecano thanks to goals from Alberto Moleiro and Javi Muñoz. They then battled admirably in a 2-1 loss at mighty Real Madrid – Muñoz putting Las Palmas ahead. Most recently, a 1-1 away draw at Granada earned another positive result. So while defensive issues remain at times, Las Palmas attack with real panache, harrying opponents across the pitch. If able to retain this energy alongside growing in confidence, manager García Pimienta’s side can surprise more as the season progresses.
Valencia form analysis
Valencia put together an encouraging run prior to a nervy 2-1 home win over relegation battling Almeria last time out. This stretch started with a dominant 3-1 home victory over Villarreal. Strikes from Yaremchuk and a Pepelu double saw Valencia cruise to an impressive three points. They carried that form brilliantly by thrashing struggling Cadiz 4-1 next up thanks chiefly to a Hugo Duro brace. Sandwiched between was a crucial 1-0 home win against Athletic Bilbao earned through another predatory Duro finish.
However, a disappointing 2-0 loss away at Atletico Madrid checked Valencia’s progress as defensive issues arose in an underwhelming display. Most recently Almeria threatened a comeback after Duro and Yaremchuk goals put Valencia two ahead. So while boasting one of La Liga’s most potent attacks, manager Rubén Baraja has work to do tightening up at the back if his talented side are to deliver consistently and make a push for the top table.
Las Palmas vs Valencia: Prediction
Valencia’s previous seven league matches on the road have witnessed an average of over 3 goals. Similarly, none of the previous six La Liga matches at this venue has witnessed fewer than two goals. Expect this trend to continue with a good amount of goals.
I do not see Valencia who has lost four of their previous six away league games, being able to take all three points. Especially, considering the fact that the hosts have lost just thrice this season at home in the league.
