Las Palmas vs Osasuna: Preview
Las Palmas form analysis
Los Amarillos has shown flashes of strong offense but inconsistencies plague the attack behind a porous defense. On February 17th, Las Palmas was hammered 5-0 away by Atletico Madrid, exposing defensive vulnerabilities. Earlier though on February 11th, Las Palmas managed an impressive 2-0 home victory over Valencia with late goals from Suárez and Cardona. Prior to that on February 3rd, Las Palmas settled for a 1-1 away draw with Granada after conceding late to a Méndez strike following Pejiño’s second half equalizer.
On January 27th, Las Palmas nearly shocked mighty Real Madrid at home, taking a 53rd minute lead through Muñoz before conceding late to Vinícius and Tchouaméni. Las Palmas’ best recent performance came in a 2-0 away win at Rayo Vallecano on January 20th. Both goals were supplied by Moleiro and Muñoz. So Las Palmas has shown the ability to score but struggles defensively and to close out leads when they grab them. Tighter organization and composure to see out leads could turn the draws and leads blown into valuable victories.
Osasuna form analysis
Osasuna has been stellar defensively recently, keeping two clean sheets in their last five matches. However, the attack has struggled to consistently produce goals. On February 17th, Osasuna grinded out a 2-0 home win over Cadiz behind a brace from Budimir. Earlier on February 10th, Osasuna earned an impressive 1-0 away victory at fifth-place Real Sociedad with Budimir again the lone goalscorer. Prior to that though, on February 4th, Osasuna was surprisingly hammered 3-0 at home by Celta Vigo, exposing some defensive vulnerabilities.
On January 31st, Osasuna battled to a 1-0 home loss against Barcelona after a 63rd minute Vitor Roque winner. Osasuna’s best recent performance came in a 1-1 away draw at seventh-place Sevilla on January 28th, getting a second half equalizer from Budimir after conceding early. So Osasuna has shown an ability to compete with top sides, but the offense lives and dies with the scoring of Budimir. More consistent secondary scoring could turn the solid defensive performances into more victories rather than draws and losses.
