The fourth match of the Lanka Premier League 2024 is scheduled to be played between the Dambulla Sixers and Jaffna Kings on Wednesday at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Both teams lost their first match of the tournament.
Dambulla Sixers began their campaign against Kandy Falcons on Monday. They suffered a six-wicket defeat against the Falcons. Despite posting 179 runs after batting first, the Dambulla Sixers failed to defend it. Kandy Falcons chased down the score in just 17.2 overs.
On the other hand, Jaffna Kings played their first match against Galle Mavels on Tuesday. The Kings posted 177 runs in the first innings, with Avishka Fernando top-scoring for 59 off 48. In reply, Galle Marvels chased down the score on the final ball of the match.

Dambulla Sixers haven’t made a winning start to their campaign but would be looking to bounce back. The top-order comprised of Gunathilaka (11), Kusal Perera (0), and Tohwid Hridoy (1) failed to impress.
However, Mark Chapman put on a show with the bat as he played a sensational knock of 91 off 61. He was given valuable support from the talented batter Chamindu Wickramasinghe, who notched 62 off 42.
If the top-order fires in the next match, the Sixers can post a huge score on the board. Speaking of the bowling unit, Akila Dananjaya was the only bowler who looked to contain runs. Rest, the bowling unit needs to step up to the plate and improve in their next game.
Jaffna Kings Reviews:
On the other hand, Jaffna Kings played a hard-fought game against Galle Marvels in their first match of the tournament. The match went to the last ball and it was Galle, who emerged victorious.
The Kings did a lot of things right in that game. Pathum Nissanka provided a decent start with his 51-run knock in 33 balls. Avishka Fernando looked in great form during his 59-run knock in 48 deliveries.
In the latter half, skipper Asalanka provided a good finish, amassing 33 off 15. However, the 177-run total didn’t prove enough in the end. Jason Behrendorff went for too many runs and needs to come back stronger.
It was Fabien Allen, who brought them back into the game with two important wickets. He bowled well for his 2 for 33 in four overs, while Asitha Fernando picked uptwo wickets as well. On a slow track, Dhananjaya de Silva proved lethal as he gave just 16 in four overs with a wicket to his name.
