Virat Kohli has been enjoying a stellar run in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 by playing some blistering knocks with the willow. However, his excellence was not restricted to the willow as Kohli struck to take his first wicket in nine wickets against the Netherlands in Bengaluru on Sunday. Captain Rohit gave Kohli an over to bowl & he ended up scalping the wicket of Scott Edwards. The ball drifted down the leg stump and KL Rahul pulled off a sharp catch off Edwards’s outside edge. The celebrations erupted as soon as the umpire raised his finger to term Edwrads out. The moment umpire gave OUT signal, Kohli turned towards the stands to show his happiness to his wife. IND vs NED: India outclassed the Dutch by a huge 160 Runs
Coming to the fixture, Shreyas Iyer & KL Rahul smashed crucial tons to guide India to a mammoth 410-4 runs total against Netherlands. The match began with India winning the toss & electing to bat first. They got off to a power-pack start with Rohit (61), Kohli (51) & Gill (51) registering vital half-centuries each. Later it was kL Rahul & Shreyas Iyer who guided India to a mammoth total by registering centuries each. Shreyas scored 128 runs off 94 balls while KL Rahul scored 102 runs off 64 balls to guide India to 410 runs total. The duo stitched 208 runs stand for the fourth wicket to help India reach a competitive total.
In reply, the Netherlands didn’t get off to a good start as their opener got dismissed in just 2 overs. But then came Max ODowd (30) & Colin (35) who registered 60 run stand to stabilize Netherlands innings. After their dismissal, Engelbrecht (45) & Teja Nidamanuru (54) took things in their hand & anchored Netherlands innings. However, none of their batters could turn their starts into big scores as a result their innings were wrapped for just 250 runs in 48 overs. For India, Bumrah. Siraj, Kuldeep & Jadeja starred with the ball by scalping two wickets each. The new inclusions in the wicket-taking list were India’s veteran players, Kohli & Rohit who scalped one wicket each to get going with the new ball in hand.
India will next face New Zealand in the semi-finals 1 on November 15, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The fixture will truly be a big affair as India will try their best to beat the Kiwis & qualify for the finals.
