Team India and England are currently competing in Cricket World Cup Match 29 at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. After winning the toss, England captain Jos Buttler chose to bowl first, knowing that his team needed a win to advance to the semi-finals. Buttler’s decision was justified by the bowlers, who took three wickets in the first 12 overs.
Chris Woakes and David Willey bowled Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer in an outstanding opening burst. The pitch, which provided significant assistance, enabled the bowlers to excel. Woakes got rid of Gill with a beautiful full delivery that nipped back and struck the stumps, taking advantage of the large gap between the young batter’s bat and pad. Kohli was forced to return to the pavilion after failing to execute a lofted shot off Willey. Iyer’s attempt to play a pull shot resulted in him being caught.
India will now rely on captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja to guide the team to a competitive total. Currently, Rohit and Rahul are consolidating the innings, with Rohit taking a few risks here and there to put pressure on England.
Silent ode of Team India:
Members of the Indian team are wearing black armbands during the game to honour the late Bishan Singh Bedi, who died on October 23. Bedi, who made his debut in 1966, played 67 Tests and 10 One-Day Internationals for India, taking 273 wickets. Many consider Bedi to be one of the greatest spinners of all time, as well as one of the greatest Indian cricketers.
He was a member of India’s famous spin quartet, which included Erapalli Prasanna, Bhagwat Chandrasekhar, and Srinivas Venkataraghavan. For more than a decade, from 1966 to 1978, they were the backbone of India’s bowling attack.
India was asked to bat first in the action-packed match against England, as Jos Buttler won the toss and invited the Men in Blue to bat first. Notably, this is India’s first opportunity to bat first in the ongoing tournament, having previously chased and won all five of their previous games. The two-time champions fielded the same lineup that defeated New Zealand by four wickets at Dharamsala’s HPCA Stadium.
