Meanwhile, KL Rahul is all set to participate in the Duleep Trophy 2024, starting 5th September 2024. He will be playing for Team A, which is led by Shubman Gill. Former cricketer, Aakash Chopra, recently, spoke on the squads announced for the tournament.
He noted that while KL Rahul is present on India A side, he doesn’t have ‘WK’ written next to his name. Dhruv Jurel has been handed the wicket-keeping duties, meaning KL Rahul will be playing a pure batter in the team.
Here’s what Aakash Chopra said in the same light:
“KL Rahul cannot be a wicketkeeper. I mean you don’t even have ‘WK’ written after his name in the squad list. And since you picked Dhruv Jurel in that same team, it means, he will be the keeper. So, Rahul is no longer your keeper for Test cricket,” Chopra said.
“And it is okay because he came at a time when Rishabh wasn’t there, you will definitely put Rahul in the playing XI. He is also not the captain. He could have been in a different team as well. He or Pant could have been the captain instead of Abhimanyu Easwaran, but neither are captaincy candidates anymore,” he added.
