Khamzat Chimaev has recently signed a new deal with the UFC ahead of his much awaited match against Kamaru Usman. Khamzat has become one of the biggest names in the UFC with his six wins in the promotion so far. Within a short short time in UFC, he has earned a lot of name recognition and this is why he was offered a new contract.
Chimaev had only two fight lefts before signing the new one
According to Chimaev’s manager, Majdi Shammas, the “Borz” signed an extension to his current contract last Tuesday. It is worth noting that the UFC fighter had two fights left in his contract before signing the new contract. Although the details of his new deal have not yet been revealed to the public, it is expected that Chimaev will be in the promotion for a near future. He will return to the Octagon this weekend to face Kamaru Usman at UFC 294.
Dana White revealed this
As UFC President Dana White revealed earlier, the winner of the fight will be next in line to face Shawn Strickland for the UFC Middleweight Championship. Interestingly, some time ago, the bout between Khamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman was considered one of the biggest fights in the welterweight division. Since their fight will ultimately take place in the Middleweight division, it will be exciting to see how it goes.
Both fighters have been exceptional in the promotion
Khamzat began his UFC career in 2020 against John Phillips. He won the fight by submission, and since then, the Russian-born Swedish fighter has continued to win every bout he fought. The last time he stepped inside the UFC Octagon was in September 2022, when he fought against Kevin Holland. If we talk about Kamaru, he began his UFC career in 2015 and went on to win 14 matches over the years, displaying exceptional skills. However, his winning streak was broken when he lost two consecutive matches to Leon Edwards, one last year and one this year in March.
