Former UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov has rekindled the excitement among fans by recently posting a new training video on social media, showcasing his dedication to staying fit. The training footage shared by the Russian shows him performing intense exercises, including pushups and heavy bag punching.
“The Eagle” captioned the video by writing, “Personal example is the best motivation. I love this energy.” Fans immediately drew comparisons to his longtime rival, Conor McGregor, with one user saying, “Dude trains harder in retirement than Conor in the camp.” Another wrote, “He still can come out of retirement and beat the sh#t out of Conor.”
Nurmagomedov is still in his prime
The former UFC Champion is adamant that his retirement is permanent and has not fought since 2020 when he defeated Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. However, Khabib is still in his prime years and many fans are hoping he will change his mind and make a return to UFC octagon. Despite Khabib’s retirement pledge, McGregor continues to push for a rematch following their infamous bout at UFC 229, where the Russian scored a submission victory over the Irishman.
McGregor is set to make his comeback at UFC 303 on June 29. He recently appeared in DualBits livestream and suggested that Nurmagomedov’s alleged tax issues could force him to come out of retirement.
“He has bills to pay. Fights for legacy ? He has two main events or something he has in UFC and he owes his bollocks to the Russian government,” said McGregor.
McGregor’s comments have fueled the rivalry
“The Notorious” continued his taunts and even called Nurmagomedov a rat. He expressed his eagerness to see how the situation would unfold. The provoking comments have definitely further fueled the ongoing rivalry between the two MMA stars. Although Khabib has remained silent in response to McGregor’s harsh statements about him, fans are already imagining a rematch between the two. UFC 229 is still the highest-grossing event in MMA history, and if a rematch becomes possible, organizers will undoubtedly move it forward. It is still uncertain whether Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor will happen again, but before that, “The Notorious” has to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29.
