Bellator Lightweight World Champion Usman Nurmagomedov secured a unanimous decision win in his latest match against Alexandr Shabliy and Khabib Nurmagomedov couldn’t be happier. During the bout against Shabliy, Usman showcased some great technical skills and the bout went the full three rounds, with the bout being eventually ruled in favor of Usman. It was a proud moment for his mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was sitting in the corner of Usman.
Speaking right after the impressive win, Khabib described Usman as one of the best lightweight fighters of the moment. “I think Usman is one of the best lightweight fighters in the world right now. I was before, now it’s our brother Islam and Usman is next. This is a dynasty,” said “The Eagle.”
Khabib had a remarkable MMA career
The lightweight division has been Khabib’s stronghold since he stepped foot into MMA. During his UFC days, Khabib became the lightweight champion by defeating Al Iaquinta and also defeated notable fighters like Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje. Khabib was such a dominant fighter that he retired with an undefeated MMA record of 29-0. He then trained Islam Makhachev, who has become the UFC lightweight champion. Makhachev has not only won the title but has also defended it multiple times against notable names like Alexander Volkanovski and Dustin Poirier.
Khabib recently joked about getting old
While the Dagestani fighter is busy mentoring his MMA students, he recently also shared a fun moment. Khabib posted a picture of his black eye and mentioned that this black eye is a sign of his old age. Although the former UFC Champion did not reveal what caused the spot, Usman recently revealed about it during an interview with Sportskeeda. Usman was asked if the injury was caused by him. Denying the speculation, Usman mentioned that he was resting when the incident occurred. In reality, Khabib sustained the dark spot while sparring with Islam Mamedov.

Well, it looks like Khabib is enjoying his time as an MMA coach. But his recent feud with Tony Ferguson has left fans speculating about a potential bout. While the Khabib vs. Ferguson fight was canceled five times, “The Eagle” recently mentioned that the only way “El Cucuy” could have ever defeated him would be through a “Lucky punch.” He further pointed out flaws in Ferguson’s grappling that led to “El Cucuy” attacking him back. But with Khabib already retired, it is almost impossible to see them together in the same octagon.
