Kent Bolstered by Signing of Australian Fast Bowler Xavier Bartlett
Kent Cricket Club announced today the signing of Australian fast bowler Xavier Bartlett for the first half of the 2024 county season.
The 25-year-old Bartlett, who recently impressed on the international stage, will add firepower to Kent’s attack in both the County Championship and the Vitality Blast.
Bartlett made a memorable ODI debut for Australia against the West Indies in February, taking home the Player of the Series award. He also finished as the leading wicket-taker in Big Bash League 13, claiming 20 wickets in 11 matches for the Brisbane Heat.

“We are delighted to welcome Xavier to Kent,” said Simon Cook, Director of Cricket at Kent Cricket Club. “His recent performances speak for themselves, and he brings a winning mentality and valuable experience to the squad.”
Cook highlighted Bartlett’s ability to take wickets with the new ball and his composure in pressure situations. “He possesses all the attributes to excel in English conditions,” Cook added.

Bartlett was a crucial member of Brisbane Heat who won their second Big Bash League title in 2024. In Brisbane Heat, he played alongside Sam Billings who is also part of Kent team.
Bartlett will be available for five of the first seven County Championship matches, with his workload being managed to ensure peak performance throughout the season. He is also committed to playing in at least the first eight games of the T20 Blast.

“I’m excited about this opportunity to test myself in England,” said Bartlett. “I’ve been following Kent Cricket for a while, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s success.”
Bartlett, who has a first-class bowling average of 25.68, has already taken 66 wickets in 19 matches for Queensland in Australia’s Sheffield Shield. His addition to the Kent squad bolsters their bowling attack and raises their ambitions for theupcoming season.
