The Men in Blue just lost a 5-match T20I series 3-2 to West Indies, and India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya isn’t doing too well as the team’s T20I captain. His individual performance in the series wasn’t very noteworthy either. But he excelled when managing Gujarat Titans in the 15th and 16th Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons. Read on to know all about Hardik Pandya’s return to India’s Test squad.
Kapil Dev, a former famous Indian captain, recently discussed Pandya and recalled seeing a photo of the brilliant all-rounder on a billboard in which he appeared to be in excellent physical shape. Pandya has excellent fitness, and Kapil thinks that he should play Test cricket as well.
Hardik Pandya’s return to India’s Test squad:
According to Kapil, as reported by Hindustan Times, “Doesn’t appear as though he will. Today, I noticed his picture on a billboard. He appeared to have one of the best physiques we have in the nation. I’m not sure if they did any touch-ups or not. He should play cricket more often because he is so talented. If he is well, he should play Test cricket as well.”
Nasser Husain, a previous illustrious England captain, was quoted by Kapil as saying that India lacked fast bowling all-rounders. Kapil contends that having fast-bowling all-rounders is not the answer to any issue because India has recently produced a large number of high-calibre fast bowlers. He claimed that a team also needs good spin-bowling all-rounders, and the Indian squad already has several of those players.
“I don’t think comparing players is appropriate. We’ve created enough reliable fast bowlers over the last 20 to 30 years. That is more significant. Additionally, you need spin-bowling all-rounders in addition to fast-bowling all-rounders. And the Indian team has some good players. Jadeja is outstanding, and Ashwin is performing admirably. So, it’s not like we have no all-around players at all.” he remarked.
