Juventus form analysis
The old Lady began this period with an excellent 0-3 away win at Udinese as goals from Chiesa, Vlahovic and Rabiot secured a dominant victory. It was the perfect start under new coach Massimiliano Allegri.
However, their form then dipped as Juve were held to a disappointing 1-1 home draw by Bologna. Vlahovic canceled out Ferguson’s opener but Juve could not find a winner despite dominating.
Most recently, Juve got back to winning ways with a professional 0-2 victory away at Empoli. Second half goals from Danilo and the returning Chiesa made it consecutive clean sheets in another solid display.
Overall, it’s been a positive but slightly inconsistent start to the season for Juventus as they target regaining the Serie A title after finishing 4th last campaign. Developing more ruthless instincts to kill off games will be crucial moving forward.
Lazio form analysis
Lazio began this season with a disappointing 1-2 loss away at newly-promoted Lecce despite taking the lead through Immobile. Poor defending allowed Lecce to turn the game around late via Almqvist and Di Francesco.
Their form then dipped further as Lazio suffered a shock 0-1 home defeat to Genoa after conceding to Retegui’s first half strike. It was another passive display lacking in creativity.
However, Lazio did respond last time out by beating title-chasers Napoli 2-1 away from home. Luis Alberto and new signing Kamada scored either side of halftime to seal an important victory.
Overall, it’s been an inconsistent start to the season for Lazio under Maurizio Sarri as they deal with the loss of key players. Beating Napoli was promising but the previous defeats highlighted concerns at both ends of the pitch. Finding consistency is vital.
