WWE hosted two events on the weekend in Mexico. Both events were quite successful, as they had notable superstars on the cards. One of the main events featured WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest and Jey Uso. Damian successfully defended his heavyweight title against Jey in the non-televised event. This was not the first time “The Archer of Infamy” has defeated the YEET Master at a WWE live event. However, this time, something interesting happened after the match.
Damian acknowledged his opponent
As Damian was leaving the ring after winning, he suddenly changed his mind and came back inside the ring to help the lying Jey Uso get back on his feet, showing him respect. The Judgement Day member even did the “YEET” arm movement to acknowledge his challenger.
This was an interesting moment given Damian Priest’s current Heel character on Raw. Earlier, he also showed respect to Seth Rollins after their match at Money in the Bank and showed his willingness to defend his title against Rollins again.
All these moments give signs towards Priest eventually turning babyface in time for SummerSlam, where he is set to defend his world title against Gunther. The moment with Jey Uso might have been made to speed his change into the babyface.
Priest might turn babyface soon
Damian Priest’s title reign might end at SummerSlam right after he turns babyface. Regardless of what happens, fans will definitely side with him, as Judgement Day can be seen getting torn apart with Finn Balor hinting at betrayal. Priest and Balor were seen in heated arguments a few weeks ago, where Damian was clearly telling Finn that he doesn’t want any help while defending his title in matches.
Now that Rhea Ripley has returned to WWE, it seems like she and Damian Priest will stick together as the members of Judgement Day, while Finn Balor and Dominik Myesterio betray them and side with Liv Morgan, forming a new heel faction.
WWE has been working greatly on this storyline for the past few months, as first they showed an angle between Liv Morgan and Dominik that hinted at a possible romance between them. Even though Dom showed that he has no interest in Morgan and is loyal to his Mami, the coming weeks might show his true colors and him betraying Ripley for Morgan.
