The 16-time WWE champion John Cena revealed last month that he will retire in 2025 and is preparing for a retirement tour. Now the number of dates scheduled for the farewell tour has been revealed. Cena made a surprising return at Money in the Bank 2024 and told the WWE Universe that he is getting closer to his retirement. However, a simple farewell match is definitely not enough for a legend like him to get the see off from fans. He will be part of big matches before ending his illustrious wrestling career.
Cena reveals the number of dates for his tour
Recently, in an interview with Collider, John Cena stated that he is set to dedicate 2025 for the final leg of his WWE career, which included 36 dates around the world. Cena will begin his farewell tour after he completes the filming of Peacemaker season 2 in late 2024.
“I’m retiring in 2025, and I’ll start a farewell tour in January. I’ll end it in December, and it’ll be about 36 dates around the world to pay thanks and gratitude to the WWE audiences worldwide. So that’s what I’m doing in 2025,” said Cena.
The Cenation leader further expressed that he sees the upcoming farewell tour as a way to thank the WWE Universe for their support. The tour will mark his participation in major PLEs like Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania and more.
Fans want to see Cena win the title for the 17th time
Since Cena announced the retirement tour, many WWE stars have shown their interest in being a part of it and fighting Cena for his farewell match. There is nothing left for Cena to accomplish in his WWE career. However, the WWE Universe wants to see him win the world championship for the 17th time. Regardless of whether Cena wins the World Title again or not, he will remain one of the most accomplished superstars in WWE.
Ric Flair, who shares the record for most World championship reigns with John Cena, recently revealed his thoughts about Cena’s potential 17th World Title win.
John Cena’s retirement tour could give fans several dream matches. Cena could be booked to face Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns and others. The company could also revive his feuds with old rivals such as Randy Orton, CM Punk, or The Miz. For now, the fans can only wait, as time will tell who will be Cena’s opponent during his retirement tour.
