India seems to have the advantage based on their recent performance going into the match on Sunday.
Virat has been a key player in India’s successful World Cup run thus far, helping the team win every match in which they have pursued the lead. When India faced Australia and New Zealand and found themselves in a precarious scenario, the former all-format captain steadied the ship.
Root praised Virat, saying to Star Sports, “Virat is probably the greatest chaser of all time; his record is incredible.”
The way that Virat performs at-bat could have a big impact on how the game turns out. England’s star-studded bowling unit has several excellent bowlers who could challenge the seasoned hitter. However, Virat would like to take on spinner Adil Rashid and pacer Mark Wood on the field.
“Mark Wood, I would like to test myself against real pace as I have played against him a few times and he is a superb bowler with the ability to worry batsmen,” Virat stated.
“Adil Rashid, he is a very underrated bowler and he has been doing well for England a very challenging bowler I look forward to playing against,” Virat continued.
