This Monday night Raw saw Jey Uso defeat Bron Breakker in the main event and become the new Intercontinental Champion. In a match that was built around Uso’s ability to win a Fatal 4-way match, the company pulled off the surprise title change, giving “Uce” his first singles title win as a WWE Superstar. WWE didn’t show much celebration as the show went off the air, but Uso went into the crowd and celebrated with the fans. He even got emotional and cried after the victory.
Several WWE Superstars tweeted for Jey
Fans in the arena were chanting, “You deserve this!” Social media was also immediately flooded with photos of Jey’s rise in WWE, from his early days on the roster to the many things he has been through trying to be recognized as a singles star.
It took him four years to move to the Raw brand and away from The Bloodline after trying to have a run with Roman Reigns and then against him. He has come close to winning the title several times but never won it. Now fans and his fellow stars have been tweeting since the win, with many of his competitors thrilled to see Jey win that singles title.
Bayley wrote, “Everyone in that building will remember this night and the feeling forever! Congratulations Jey!!!!!” While Rhea Ripley posted a video of herself dancing as Jey made his way to the ring for the main event. The Head of Creative Triple H also praised Jey and wrote, “The Embodiment of hard work paying off is “Main Event,” Jey. An all-time great in the tag team division and now has won one of the most historic championships in our business. Congratulations, Jey… YEET!”
The main event match was a stunner
The match was quite incredible, with multiple near pins and amazing high spots that made it seem like any competitor could win. Towards the end of the match, Jey caught Bron with a superkick from the outside. “Uce” then hit a spear through the barricade before hitting the big Uso splash from the top for the win. As good as Uso is, this was a surprise to many fans. Bron Breakker’s run was not long but it was memorable. He was garnering a lot of fan support despite being a heel. Maybe that had something to do with the title change. He kept calling for his dogs in every arena, and fans happily obeyed. Despite the loss, there are big things ahead for him. And losing to a top superstar like Jey on Raw won’t hurt Breakker’s run.
