Since its release, the movie Animal has become the talk of the country. In just two days, the Ranbir Kapoor-starring film has made INR 130 crore in India across all languages. Whether the reception to the film is great or negative, people have been flocking to the theaters to see the film for what it is all about. Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director, promised even more violence, and he has delivered. Vanga enjoyed great success in 2019 with Kabir Singh. The way the male characters are portrayed, how the female characters are handled, and the amount of gore and violence in the movie have all drawn criticism. A Senior India cricketer has criticized the movie and later deleted his post after calling Animal film a ‘disgrace’. Scroll down to read Jaydev Unadkat Calls Animal Movie “An Absolute Disaster.”

Even though many have urged the film’s detractors to view it as a work of fiction rather than through the prism of morality, many have taken issue with the film’s overt misogyny, ridicule of female characters, and extreme violence. Notable lyricist, writer, and actor Swanand Kirikire was among them, as was former India cricket player Jaydev Unadkat.
Unadkat shared his movie review on X, formerly known as Twitter. The left-arm pacer regretted his choice to see the movie and labeled it a waste of time, criticizing the film’s misogyny and glorification.
“#AnimalTheFilm was such a complete flop! It is shameful to glorify sexism in modern society and then dismiss it as a simple aspect of “traditional masculinity” and “alpha male” behavior. We no longer live in jungles and palaces, engage in warfare, or go hunting. No matter how excellent the acting was, such performances shouldn’t be exaggerated or displayed in a film that is seen by millions of people. One should always remember that social duty exists, even in the entertainment sector. Just seems horrible that I wasted three hours seeing such a poorly made movie,” Unadkat commented in a now-deleted post.

One of the most divisive movies of the year is Animal, and since Unadkat removed his tweet, other cricket players who are seeing it might decide not to voice their opinions for fear of negative feedback.
