Jay Shah is all set to continue as the President of the Asian Cricket Council. The extension for another year was unanimously approved by the ACC Annual General Meeting in Bali on Wednesday 31st January. Jay Shah the Secretary of BCCI is already in the second year of his two-year tenure as the ACC Chief.
His extension was proposed by the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), & his nomination was backed by all the ACC members as stated in the Press Release released by the ACC On Wednesday. Taking over the reins of the ACC in January 2021 from Nazmul Hassan, the President of the BCB Shah became the youngest administrator to be re-appointed as the ACC president.
The ACC presidency rotates among the full ICC members in the Continental body & Shah is the first person to secure two consecutive terms.
It was earlier reported about the ACC meeting in Bali on January 29 & the Possibility of discussions over the ACC President Position. In the end, SLC whose turn was next for the post, proposed Shah’s continuation, “Mr. Jay has been instrumental in leading the ACC to notable advancements in fostering and advancing cricket throughout the Asian region. Guided by Mr. Shah, the ACC has played a key role in discovering and nurturing emerging talents in cricketing giants such as Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka,” remarked Shammi Silva, the chief of SLC.

Under Jay Shah’s tenure as President, the ACC has witnessed significant progress in promoting & developing cricket across the Asian region. Under his presidency, the ACC has organized Men’s & Women’s Asia Cups, Emerging Teams’ tournaments, and U19 competitions successfully.
