Indian veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma slip down in the latest ICC Test rankings. Whereas, Jasprit Bumrah has risen to the number 1 spot in the ICC Test bowlers rankings. For both Rohit and Kohli, they have dropped by one position each in the top-ten spots. Virat Kohli didn’t feature in the first two Tests against England. He has dropped from 6th to 7th position in the latest ICC rankings.
Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, finds himself slipping down one position from 12th to 13th spot. Sharma hasn’t made any impact with the bat thus far in the Test series. In the second Test against England at Vizag, he mustered only 27 runs across two innings.
Meanwhile, the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have made massive gains in the ICC Test rankings. Jaiswal notched a double-century in the Vizag Test and it helped him climb 37 spots to reach 29th position in the rankings. He now attains the best rating points of 632.
Shubman Gill also made massive returns after scoring his third century in the second Test. There were a lot of question marks raised over his poor form in Test cricket. However, he emerged out of that slump in form and went on to score his 3rd Test century.
In the latest Test rankings, Gill finds himself at number 38th position. He too has attained his career best tally of 578 rating points. Additionally, the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane have fallen to the 37th and 47th spot in the rankings. Both are now longer a part of India’s Test set-up and thus continue to go down in the ICC Test rankings.
Kane Williamson sits at the top of the ICC Test Batters’ Rankings
After scoring two centuries in two innings in the first Test match against South Africa, Williamson has taken the number one position in the ICC Test batting rankings. Steve Smith takes the second spot with 818 rating points, followed by the likes of Joe Root (797) and Daryl Mitchell (786).
Babar Azam remains at number five spot with 768 rating points to his name. Australia’s Usman Khawaja jumps one spot to take the 6th position. He now has 765 rating points to his name.
Harry Brook is not part of England’s Test team for the ongoing series against India. He has dropped one point to take the number eight spot in the ranking.
