Former WWE employee Janel Grant’s legal team has taken shots on behalf of their client against Vince McMahon. In a latest statement, Grant’s legal team pointed out the fact that the recently released Netflix docuseries shows that there is no difference between Vince McMahon’s on-air persona and his real personality. The show features the former WWE Chairman’s biggest controversies and scandals, detailing several scandals in his life. One of them is the alleged rape of female WWE referee, Rita Chatterton in 1986. She accused Vince of sexually assaulting her and forcing her to satisfy him.
Callis stated her client deserves to tell her story
Janel Grant’s legal team released a statement that states the McMahon character known for his violent impulses, sexual deviance and manipulation is the real Vince McMahon. Grant’s attorney Ann Callis said, “The ‘Mr. McMahon’ docuseries makes it clear that there is no difference between Vince McMahon’s on-air persona and his real personality, they are one and the same. His character known for violent impulses, sexual deviance and manipulation is the real Vince McMahon and is exactly what Janel Grant experienced behind the doors for years at WWE.”
The statement further states that the Netflix show perfectly demonstrated McMahon’s obsession with power and control. Ann Callis also said that her client Janel Grant deserves to tell her story in her own time and in her own way. Callis added that she is looking forward to her day in the court and wants to see Vince McMahon finally held accountable for his actions.
The lawsuit was filed against Vince in January
Janel Grant filed the 63-page sex trafficking lawsuit in January 2024, accusing him of raping her on multiple occasions while she was employed by WWE from 2019-2022. Grant alleged that the former WWE Chairman not only sexually assaulted her but also trafficked her to other men in the company, including former Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis. She also hinted at the involvement of WWE superstar Brock Lesnar. After the lawsuit was filed, Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis resigned from their positions and Brock was also ruled out from further WWE appearances.
