Young prolific Namibia’s batter, Jan Nicol Loftie Eaton scripted history by smashing the fastest century in the T20 format. He reached the landmark in just 33 balls in their fixture against Nepal in the first match of the Tri-series including the Netherlands in Kirtipur. With this stunning knock, Loftie Eaton broke Kushal Malla’s record of the fastest hundred in T20I. Malla scored a century in just 34 balls against Mongolia in the Asian Games Men’s Cricket Competition in September 2023.
Loftie Eaton who is just 22 year-old has smashed 101 runs off 36 balls against Nepal in an innings braced with 11 fours & eight sixes. He finished his innings with a strike rate of 280.56.
Nambia won the fixture against Nepal by 20 runs
Coming to the fixture, Namibia scored a total of 206-4 in 20 overs after winning the toss & opting to bat first. Batting first Namibia got off to a stunning start with openers Michael Van Lingen (20 off 19) and Malan Kruger (59* off 48) added 36 in six overs. But soon their blooming stand was broken when Van Lingen was dismissed by Karan KC. Following Lingen’s dismissal Rohit Paudel scalped the wickets of JP Kotze (11) and Jan Frylinck (5).
At 62-3, Loftie Eaton joined hands with Kruger, and the two featured in a scintillating 135-run stand for the fourth wicket. The former was dismissed in the last over of Namibia’s innings, caught by Gulsan Jha off Abinash Bohara’s bowling. However, till that time the damage was already done as he had already decoded a stunning ton within 33 balls. He has a poor batting record in T20Is as he averaged a meager 0.70 from 32 matches, scoring 182 runs at a strike rate of 100.55.

With a gleaming ton in 33 balls. Loftie Eaton tops the list of fastest hundred in the T20I format. While Malla occupies the second spot on the list by scoring a ton in 34 balls. South Africa’s David Miller, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, and Czech Republic’s Sudesh Wickramasekara are the other three batters who occupy third spot on the list. All three have notched up T20I hundreds in 35 balls.
Miller scored 101* off 36 balls against Bangladesh in Potchefstroom in October 2017. Rohit clobbered 118 off 43 balls against Sri Lanka in Indore in December 2017, a knock that featured 12 fours and 10 sixes. Coming to Wickramasekara he has scored 104* off 36 against Turkey in Ilfov County in the Continental Cup in August 2019.
