The highly anticipated boxing clash between boxing legend Mike Tyson and Social Media influencer Jake Paul has been postponed. The bout was earlier scheduled for July 20 in Arlington, Texas, but has been postponed due to Tyson’s recent health issues. The new date for the fight is expected to be announced in early June.
Tyson fell ill last week
The former world champion fell ill last week and was given medical advice to limit his training after an ulcer recently flared up. According to promoters, during a follow-up consultation on Thursday, medical professionals advised Mike Tyson to train minimally for the next few weeks before resuming full training without any limitations.
This clash is a significant matchup in crossover boxing. “The Problem Child” boasts a 9-1 record and is going to face his most formidable opponent, Tyson. Paul is coming off a TKO win over Ryan Bourland in March and has only one loss in professional boxing against Tommy Fury. “Iron Mike” retired from professional boxing in 2005 with a 50-6 record. He last fought in an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020.
The fight will take place in Texas
Despite the upcoming bout being delayed, both Jake and Mike are confident and eager for the fight. Paul expressed his support for the postponement of the bout and stated the importance of facing Tyson at his best. He said, “My fans know I don’t want to face Tyson at anything but his best, but let there be no mistake. When he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my victory with a sensational finish.”

The fight is scheduled to take place at the AT&T Stadium in Texas, USA and stream exclusively on Netflix. The matchup is Tyson’s first professional match since 2005. As one of the most iconic boxers, Tyson has been training hard for the bout and that can be seen in the training footage he shared on social media. The 50-year-old wants to be a tough matchup for the 27-year-old Jake.
