Jake Paul is set to face boxing legend Mike Tyson on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The fight will be live streamed on Netflix. The American YouTuber is getting ready for this huge showdown, which will also mark a significant moment in his professional boxing career. The event will also feature an exciting co-main event, with a highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. Irish boxer Taylor scored an iconic win against Serrano in New York two years ago, cementing her position as one of the top names in women’s boxing.
Paul believes he can increase his strength
“If I’m training in this camp at 240 then cut down to 220, it’s like I had a 20 pound weight vest on for the entire camp.”

In preparation for his fight with Tyson, the Problem Child has embarked on a punctilious training regime with the aim of reaching Anthony Joshua’s size. He currently weighs 230 pounds. Paul aims to reach 240 pounds during his training camp before reducing down to 220 pounds for fight night. He believes that this strategic weight management will increase his speed and agility in the ring.
“It turns out that my body can tolerate this weight well and I’m only growing. I think I’ll get to 240 and maybe lower, so I’m quite fast. But if I’m training for camp – and camp hasn’t started – but if I’m training at 240 this camp, and then I drop down to 220, it’s basically like I’ve been training for the entire camp. I was wearing a 20-pound weight vest on for the whole entire camp. So my muscles are going to be much stronger and that speed will come through.
Jake has adopted to his training routine
Jake’s former trainer, Shane Mosley, revealed that the fighter has already gained 30 pounds, with plans to add another 10 pounds before the fight. The weight gain would make Paul significantly heavier than his previous fights, which were at cruiserweight, including his bout against Tommy Fury last year. Compared to Joshua, who is 6 feet 1 inch tall, he is 6 feet 6 inches tall. Despite this, Paul remains confident that size will benefit him, stressing his commitment to move up to the heavyweight division for the first time.

Additionally, by adjusting his weight, Paul has also adapted his training routine to prepare for the challenges of facing heavyweight opponents. With a focus on practice sessions against heavier opponents, Paul aims to adapt himself to the power and intensity of the heavyweight division. The fight is scheduled to last eight rounds, each lasting two minutes, with both fighters wearing 140-z gloves. Headgear will not be allowed, and knockdowns will be permitted.
