Social media sensation Jake Paul is looking to stay active in combat sports after his highly anticipated clash with Boxing legend Mike Tyson was postponed. The 57-year-old’s ulcer flared up while traveling on a flight, which eventually led to the delay of the bout, pushing it to November 15. Amid these developments, rumors swirled that “The Problem Child” could face former UFC star Mike Perry on the original date, while the bout with “Iron Mike” still targeted for later this year. Meanwhile, the UFC is facing uncertainty over its upcoming PPV event, UFC 303, which features a main event between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler.
The Problem Child is interested in a MMA fight
UFC Bantamweight Champion Sean O’Malley recently proposed a fight with Jake Paul to save the event. On X, he wrote, “I’ll fight Jake Paul to save UFC 303.” Paul was quick to respond on social media, expressing his desire to fight O’Malley. He wrote, “MMA fight before Tyson ✅.”
In another tweet, Paul wrote, “100% beat O’Malley in MMA. He’s a small man. PFL vs. UFC June 29th.
Paul is eager to make his MMA debut
While an actual fight between Paul and O’Malley is unlikely, Paul has been in the news, hinting at a possible MMA debut, and has aimed his comments at UFC CEO Dana White. Although contracted with the PFL, “The Problem Child” is looking for the right opponent for his MMA debut, preferably at a big PPV event, potentially in Saudi Arabia in September. Paul has spoken openly about fighting Nate Diaz in the PFL. However, “The Stockton Slugger” turned down the offer. “Sugar,” on the other hand, is likely fighting Merab Dvalishvili in his second title defense.
Paul was devastated by the postponement
Despite the postponement, Paul is focused on his fight with Tyson. He was disappointed at first, but he wants to make sure Mike is healthy first. The 27-year-old stated in an interview that he loves and respects Mike but was very disappointed for everyone on the undercard as it was such an iconic event. Now, Paul’s focus is on getting to November 15 and giving fans a historic fight. Despite the new date, there are doubts that Tyson will be healthy enough to train for the fight at his age.
