Social media Influencer and boxer Jake Paul has recently expressed his apprehension about his upcoming fight against Boxing icon Mike Tyson. The highly anticipated clash is scheduled to take place on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Paul’s nervousness comes after watching Tyson’s astonishing training footage that left “The Problem Child” feeling nervous about getting in the ring with the veteran boxing icon. “Iron Mike” has been out of boxing since 2005. However, he displayed his incredible skills when he faced Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match in 2022, showing that even at an advanced age for boxing, he still has lightning-fast reflexes.
Paul admitted getting a little nervous
In the recent episode of the BS/w Jake Paul Podcast, he admitted that he was feeling uneasy after watching footage of Mike Tyson’s training sessions. During the talk, Paul’s brother Logan Paul asked Jake about his reaction to seeing Tyson working out, to which the 27-year-old responded positively while admitting a degree of nervousness.
He said, “Yeah. It’s motivating, I think it’s good to carry fear with you in the ring and with you on a daily basis when you’re training, because it makes you better.”
Jake issued a big warning to Tyson
Jake Paul commented that although fear may be present, he sees it as a driving force, emphasizing its importance in enhancing his performance both in the gym and then eventually in the ring. However, amid this confession, Paul did issue a big warning to his 57-year-old rival. Addressing Mike directly, Paul emphasized that skill on the pads does not guarantee victory and reminded Tyson that he would have to face him head-on when they meet in the arena. Jake further stated that Tyson’s confidence may be boosted by his stunning training footage, but warned that the true test awaits on match day.
The fight will be streamed on Netflix
Logan warned his brother by saying that Mike looks good in mitts and is not even half the battle. He warned Jake that Tyson would not underestimate him, to which he agreed, adding that the rest of the world doesn’t believe he was the boxing legend’s equal.
