Jack Della Maddalena is set to face Brazilian MMA fighter Gilbert Burns next year at UFC 299. Currently, both fighters compete in the welterweight division of the promotion, where Burns ranks 4th in the welterweight rankings and Maddalena ranks 11th. This is definitely going to be an exciting match and the Australian will look to ascend to the higher ranks when he faces Burns in March next year.
Dana White announced exciting match-ups
This exciting match-up was announced by UFC President Dana White after last weekend’s UFC 296, where Leon Edwards successfully retained his Welterweight title against Colby Covington. He stated that the Miami card is going to be wild. White announced a few fights like, Michael Page vs. Kevin Holland, Song Yadong vs. Petr Yan, Gilbert Burns vs. Jack Della Maddalena and Ian Garry vs. Geoff Neal. He also confirmed that Sean O’Malley will defend his Bantamweight title against Marlon Vera in a pre-announced main event for the card on March 9, 2024.
Burns will be the toughest opponent for Jack
Gilbert Burns made his MMA debut in 2012 and fought in various promotions. He entered the UFC in 2014 and won his first three fights in the promotion. Rashid Magomedov gave Burns his first professional loss. Gilbert’s overall professional MMA record is 22 wins and six losses. His most wins came by submissions. “Durinho” is definitely going to be the toughest opponent for Maddalena. Burns has some notable wins over the likes of Tyron Woodley, Stephen Thompson and Jorge Masvidal.
Maddalena is on a 16-fight winning streak
If we talk about Jack Della Maddalena, he made his professional MMA debut in 2016, starting off with two defeats. However, since then, Jack has not lost a single bout. Maddalena is on a 16-fight winning streak and most of his wins came via knockout. The 27-year-old entered the UFC in 2022 and defeated fighters like Peter Rodriguez, Danny Roberts, Randy Brown, Bassil and Hafez. Maddalena’s most recent bout came in September at UFC Fight Night 227, where he defeated Holland via split decision. This was his second win in the UFC via decision.
