AEW’s latest premium live event “All In” that took place in London at Wembley Stadium was a major hit. The match card included nine title matches. After the show, AEW President Tony Khan gave his opinion on the company’s third brand, Collision. While doing so, Tony took a dig at former AEW star CM Punk, who was the frontrunner of Collision when the show began in 2023.
The creation of the brand served as a means to differentiate Punk from other stars he had previously clashed with behind the scenes. However, The Second City Saint continued to have conflicts with other wrestlers despite the formation of the Collision. Some wrestlers were reportedly sent home to avoid a feud with Punk.
Khan about the backstage atmosphere
Recently, during a press conference following All In, Tony Khan stated that managing things backstage at the Collision is easier now than it was a year ago. Khan was indirectly hinting that the atmosphere in the locker room is better than last year now that Punk is no longer a part of AEW.
“I really think that it’s easier to get stuff done in the back at Collision than it was a year ago. I think the flow between those two shows is easier than it was about a year ago,” said Khan in the press conference.
CM Punk was fired from AEW last year
The infamous backstage clash between CM Punk and Jack Perry took place at last year’s All In event. Since then, not only the Chicago native opened up about the details of the incident, but Tony Khan has also released CCTV footage of the altercation. It was reported that Punk provoked Jack Perry into confronting him after “Jungle Boy” mocked him using real glass for a spot, which Punk had ill-advised. Eventually the argument led to a backstage brawl, which also saw Punk attack Tony Khan for his lack of control over the locker room.

Two months after CM Punk left AEW, the wrestling world got a huge surprise as he made his WWE return at the Survivor Series WarGames premium live event. “Cookie Master” is currently involved in a storyline with Drew McIntyre and wrestled his first singles match in WWE in 10 years at SummerSlam 2024. The Second City Saint is set to face the Scottish Warrior at Bash in Berlin, upcoming weekend.
