There comes a big blow for the Indian team as Virat Kohli might extend his leave, missing the third & fourth Test in Rajkot & Ranchi. There is also the probability of Virat missing the fifth Test in Dharamsala beginning on March 6. This will put selectors in dilemma as they will now have to find out a perfect replacement for Virat Kohli who can take his place in the upcoming Tests.
Virat Kohli withdrew from the first two Tests due to personal reasons. BCCI disclosed Kohli’s decision ahead of the first Test on January 22. And since no update about his return has been provided by the board yet.
BCCI’s statement read, “Virat has spoken to Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management, and the selectors and has emphasized that while representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention.”
Though Kohli’s prolonged absence will be a challenge for India the possibility of the return of KL Rahul & Ravindra Jadeja will be a relief for the Indian team. Both the players have missed the second Test in Vizag due to injury concerns but are reportedly progressing well with their rehabilitation.
What’s the reason behind the absence of Virat Kohli?
Initially, many speculations were made regarding the absence of Virat Kohli but later De Villiers put a full stop to all speculations by revealing the real reason behind Virat’s absence. In an interview on YouTube, De Villiers revealed that Virat Kohli is fine & doing well. He has just felt the need to prioritize his family as the couple are expecting their second child.
Confirming the news of Virat’s paternity leave Villiers said, “Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it’s family time and things are important to him.”
The news has increased the excitement of fans who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of junior Kohli. His dedication to be with his family during these special times reflects his commitment to his loved ones & highlights the importance of family in his life.
However, Rohit & Dravid are yet to make an Official announcement about Kohli’s absence in the upcoming Tests, their silence regarding his return almost confirms his prolonged absence from the Test series.
We at Sportsermon extend hearty congratulations to Virat Kohli!
