UFC middleweight fighter Israel Adesanya has finally broken his silence on the ongoing injury talk. After Alex Pereira hinted at Adesanya being potentially injured at UFC 305, “The Last Stylebender” reposted the story with a statement supporting Pereira’s claims. Such a move from Adesanya didn’t go down well with the MMA fans and people immediately began criticizing Adesanya for making excuses. However, the former middleweight champion was quick to respond to all the backlash he received.
Adesanya took X and wrote, “I just said, ‘He knows my style.’ Go touch some grass please…” Actually, the UFC Light heavyweight champion Pereira recently posted his analysis of the UFC 305 main event. Giving his opinion on Dricus Du Plessis’ victory, the Brazilian said that Israel Adesanya might have been carrying an injury. “Poatan” stated that Adesanya was quite behind in terms of delivering his signature low kicks.
Adesanya and Pereira have shared the Octagon before
The statement immediately drew a response from Adesanya. He reposted Poatan’s opinion and mentioned that it feels strange how well Pereira knows him. The two first met each other in GLORY Kickboxing, where they spent a lot of time competing with each other. Both were then soon signed to the UFC, where they made a great name among the MMA community and continue to do so. Thus, “The Last Stylebender” said that it seems like Pereira has spent hours studying Adesanya’s fighting style.
Pereira wants to go down to middleweight again
Alex Pereira’s comments can be construed as a subtle insult towards Dricus Du Plessis. By stating that Adesanya might be injured, the Brazilian has inadvertently indicated that Du Plessis’ victory was less important. After Du Plessis’ UFC 305 win, Pereira announced that he is going down to 185 pounds once again. On the other hand, “Stillknocks” threatened to move to the light heavyweight division and strip Poatan of the title. Amid this debate, Sean Strickland has commented that Pereira is not serious about his move to the middleweight division.

“Tarzan” analyzed that once a fighter goes up in weight class, it becomes a very dangerous task to reduce it. So, for Pereira, who is at the top of the light heavyweight division, it is impossible to have a second run in the middleweight division. Only the future will tell if Pereira is serious about moving down or not.
