The former UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has recently shed light on his current relationship status and emotional struggles in the past, giving fans a glimpse into his personal side. As the anticipation for his potential return to the Octagon grows, Adesanya shares his journey to finding peace and satisfaction in his personal life.
Adesanya’s dream is just to find peace. He stated that this was a quote from his friend, Jamie.
“That’s his quote, his slogan, ‘attain peace.’ He’s like I’m going to train to attain peace. And even me. That’s why I’m single now. I like peace. I love peace in my life,” said the Nigerian.
Adesanya’s ex-girlfriend is demanding half of his earnings
His search for peace comes after several personal challenges, including a significant heartbreak in 2013, which caused him to struggle with depression. More recently, in 2023, Adesanya publicly addressed issues with his ex-girlfriend, Charlotte Powdrell, and hinted at legal disputes. Despite these tough times, he seems to have moved on and is focusing on his well-being and inner peace.
Last year, reports came out that Israel Adesanya was being dragged to court by his ex-girlfriend, Charlotte Powdrell, who is reportedly demanding half of his earnings. Given the UFC fighter’s high-profile career and substantial income as a two-time UFC middleweight champion, the legal dispute has garnered considerable attention. “The Last Stylebender” has amassed a great fortune, potentially worth millions.
Adesanya accused her of exploiting his success
The controversy came to public attention when Sean O’Malley discussed the situation on his podcast. He expressed surprise, saying, “Izzy’s ex-girlfriend, they’re not married right, wants half of his earnings. It’s hard to say, they are not married, right, wants half of his earnings. They were together for many years, and she supported him in various ways, but asking for half seems unfair.”

On Instagram, Adesanya accused Powdrell of trying to exploit his success and denied her contribution to his financial achievements. His posts expressed anger and disappointment, emphasizing that Powdrell had not contributed to his earnings. He criticized her for making threats and declared that he no longer cared about her or her actions and was prepared to handle the situation legally. It is believed that “The Last Stylebender” will not face UFC Middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis for the title, potentially at UFC 305 in August 2024.
