UFC fighter Israel Adesanya is known for his short temper and if something upsets him, he doesn’t let it go easily. The former middleweight champion recently got into a verbal altercation with a man in his home country, New Zealand. The video went viral in which Adesanya can be seen vowing to beat up the man. The footage was recorded by some person sitting in their car nearby. Adesanya can be seen yelling, “Try me, yeah I get paid for this sh**. It seems he was angry and wanted to attack the other man for using a racist slur against him.
The UFC fighter kept yelling at the man
Adesanya continued to use some abusive language against the man, after which he kept yelling at him. The man has allegedly used a racist slur against the MMA fighter and was continuing to say that. As the vehicle of the person recording the video of the incident began to move, Adesanya was heard saying, “I pray for you to try me,” as he closed his car door and began to advance against the man.
Adesanya has been involved in several controversies
It is yet to be known if Adesanya hit the man or not, as the verbal altercation seemed to be getting worse. However, according to Fox News, the fight didn’t go physical and the two went their separate ways after that altercation. The incident has once again highlighted the prejudices some people have towards certain races. This is not the first time “The Last Stylebender” has landed in controversy.
In 2020, Adesanya faced a lot of backlash for the comments he made at the UFC 248 pre-fight press conference, where he said he would make his opponent Yoel Romero collapse like the Twin Towers, a reference to the collapse of the Twin Towers in the 9/11 attacks. He later apologized through his Instragam handle. “I was simply rambling and my brain worked faster than by month in a moment to choose the wrong euphemism. I did on this one and for that I’m sorry. I’ll be more careful with my words in the future,” he wrote.

Also in February 2021, Adesanya made headlines for using derogatory language against his opponent Kevin Holland. He lashed out against Holland on his Instagram handle, saying, “Bro, I will f***in R*p* you.” The comment didn’t go down well with then New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Sports Minister Grant Robertson, who reprimanded Adesanya for his words. Commenting on this, he stated, “I am sure Israel understands this, I believe he has deleted the tweet in question. I would certainly make it clear to him or anybody that we should take rape seriously. It’s not an issue that anyone should be joking about or making absurd comments about.”
