YouTube Star IShowSpeed Challenges Olympic Sprinter Ewa Swoboda to 100-Meter Race
YouTube sensation IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr., has accepted a challenge from Polish Olympic sprinter Ewa Swoboda to race over 100 meters. The proposal comes after Speed, known for his bold stunts and competitive spirit, claimed he has never been beaten in a race at any point in his life.
Swoboda, one of the standout athletes at this year’s Paris games, issued the challenge after hearing Speed’s claims. The 27-year-old sprinter, who has a personal best of 10.94 seconds in the 100 meters, suggested Speed travel to Poland to compete in the RMF FM radio contest over the same distance.
Speed, who boasts over 27 million subscribers on YouTube, is no stranger to athletic feats. Earlier this year, he reportedly earned a professional football contract with a Norwegian club after beating the team’s fastest player in a race.
Speed is also known for his daring online stunts, including a video in which he jumped over two speeding supercars, a Lamborghini and a McLaren, which resulted in a temporary ban from YouTube.
Swoboda, who narrowly missed out on the 100-meter final in Paris and is competing in the 4×100-meter relay this week, is eager to test Speed’s confidence. The two-time European Championship medalist might have a chance to prove him wrong if the race takes place.
In response to Swoboda’s challenge, Speed shared a screenshot of her Instagram profile with the caption, “I’m ready.”
IShowSpeed was in Poland a few months back and it is unlikely that he will go back to have a race against the Polish star. However, this will be an interesting event if it happens, Swoboda is as charismatic as she is competitive and she’s an Olympian.
Speed might be undervaluing strength of his opponent but what has been seen in past years by the youtuber, he do possess somet atheletic talent.
The showdown between the internet star and the Olympian is now eagerly anticipated by fans worldwide, with many curious to see if Speed’s confidence can match Swoboda’s world-class speed.
