In terms of batting, Nepal did fairly well against Indian bowling line-up. They posted 230 on board which was acknowledble because as a team, they are still in initial progresive zone. For team India, things or so to coordination and collaboration is, at the time, looking a bit unsettled. Amidst all this, the man at the helm of discussion is Indian cricket team’s captain Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma has been saved from criticism because he has played flashy knock against Nepal. By no means, Nepal’s bowlers would have anticipated the batting mastery of Indian openers, that is a fact but given that, there is overwhelming about it if the standard has been pulled out for self content.
Rohit Sharma Doing Informal Captaincy
One might have noticed, if he is pure cricket fan not an individual worshipper, that Rohit Sharma is more involved in the game as a captain, and expressively more like a coach, telling his players informally about the happenings of the game as an outsider. The whimsical of his leadership has made a few fans who are in awe of such a local flavour of cricketing sense, they have never seen before.
This is actually organic way to lead a time, according to some ex players and pundits. Some have even said that the best of Rohit Sharma came out against Nepal in quite one sided chase, it was dismissive and condescending for Nepal’s players who were over exaggerating their achievement, claiming if Nepal beats India….well, it was a groundless optimism but still they can learn and evolve.
Coming back to Rohit Sharma and his leadership, there are matters of “ifs” and “who else can.” Not sure if it is going India’s way, the wins and triumphs against West Indies and Nepal are depicted as of immense importance and the prudence of Indian captain is highly appreciated. When the struggle of Indian batters against pace comes out in day light, the pitch is the one to be blamed and it is said sponsered commentators that 266 were too many for a fragile side, in which there are two incredible hitters of ball inform and 3 players with 50+ average in ODIs.
Player over Team, Not a Good Trend
The uncertainty about a player’s place in the team is openly discussed giving the reason that performance marking and team set-up hasn’t allowed such and such player to be in the squad. Coming to the point, the struggle of established players isn’t taken into the account, just because of the name and ad hoc role, players remain in the team. A few bad performances have stole away spot in the Indian team from some players and they still remain outcasted, looking at team India now, thinking it wasn’t consistentcy in batting but name making that they really lacked.
The captaincy has been poor from Rohit Sharma. The attitude has not been spirited enough to bring everyone on the same ground in a collaborative sense. The misfielding against Nepal was a wild reflection of the mindset “it’s just Nepal”. When a captain allows the team to adopt such kind of attitude or himself promotes, the repercussions come out as momentry struggles which become habit of a team.
Everything starts in a rudimentary block and unfortunately, this is where the team stands now. Numbers and stats are only good to get appraisal from a rookie. You have to be diligent about your job, every position demands a certain type of understanding, attitude and work ethic, and it is good to preserve your own charecter but the thin being professional and being yourself must be valued and worked through.
