After winning the West Indies in the Test and ODI series, India was dealt a significant blow when they lost the five-match T20I series 2-3. Hardik Pandya and company were able to rebound and maybe win the series with two straight victories after going behind 0-2 in the series. That wasn’t the case, though, as the West Indies triumphed thanks to their shrewd bowling and good stroke play. India’s T20I loss was surely a shock for the cricket fans.
The West Indies squad was congratulated for their historic 3-2 series triumph by former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, who also gave the management of the Indian team advice to consider their defeat to a lower-ranked opponent. He said:
“Congratulations to the West Indies team on a well-earned series victory. Losing to a team that is lower in rank is obviously concerning, thus Team India has to reflect on this performance.”
Irfan Pathan on India’s T20I loss:
As they made sure the Indian squad and the Indian cricket fans knew they had lost to a team that was experiencing a serious decline, Pakistan fans were back to their usual mocking. Irfan Pathan did not hold back and immediately posted a brief remark on Twitter about how Pakistani fans were harassing the Indian players and supporters. He wrote,
“Begaani Shadi mein Abdulla Deewana… #sunday #padosi,”
The ‘Men in Blue’ batted first after winning the toss and quickly lost their young openers. Suryakumar Yadav’s determined 61 off 45 balls helped India reach a decent total of 165/9 in 20 overs, in large part because of his efforts. With a valiant 18-ball 27, Tilak Varma once more created an impression, but he was unable to build on it.
Romario Shepherd stood unmolested with the ball, taking four wickets, while Jason Holder and Akeal Hosein both claimed two. With only two overs remaining, the Caribbean nation upset the opponent by eight wickets thanks to an unbeaten 55-ball 85 from Brandon King, who was otherwise having a quiet series. With a 35-ball 47, Nicholas Pooran, who has been in excellent form, also performed admirably.
