During their IPL 2024 opener, the Delhi Capitals discovered a new hero in Abishek Porel. The 21-year-old scored 32 runs off of only 10 balls, including two sixes and four boundaries. With his attack in the last over, Abishek Porel left the seasoned Harshal Patel completely bewildered.
The Bengal star came in to bat in the 18th over as the Impact Player, taking Ricky Bhui’s spot. Abishek Porel was the primary factor that separated the Delhi Capitals from the opposition during a period when they were having trouble scoring a lot of points.
Cricket enthusiasts and social media were enthralled with the Bengal young player’s actions in the last over of the innings. Along with Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly, Rishabh Pant, who made an emotional comeback to the game, was seen appreciating the display.

Following his injury at the end of 2022, Rishabh Pant was unable to participate in the IPL 2023. During the 2023 Indian Premier League, the young player made his debut with the Delhi Caps. The Gujarat Titans, the reigning champions at the time, were the opponents in his inaugural game for the Capitals.
Before Rashid Khan castled him, Abishek Porel scored 20 runs off of 11 balls and hit two sixes, displaying no fear. The blade of Porel managed just 13 runs in the next three games, so they were unremarkable.
It is noteworthy that the young player is the cousin brother of former Under-19 World Cup winner and Bengal bowler Ishan Porel. In 2022, the juvenile made his Bengali Ranji Trophy debut against Baroda.
Abishek Porel struck 21 off 19 balls in his first innings, but Bengal were bowled out for 88. Shahbaz Ahmed and Abishek Porel, who were chasing 350 to win, pulled off an incredible victory by adding an unbroken 108 runs for the seventh wicket in 22 overs. The 21-year-old has participated in 23 Ranji games thus far and amassed 1072 runs at an average of 33, including one ton. He’s already pouched nine stumpings and eighty-five catches behind the stumps.
Abishek Porel has played 11 games in the List A format, scoring 275 runs and recording two half-centuries. The teenage player has emerged as a monster in the T20 format, amassing 294 runs from 14 games at a strike average of 140, including two half-centuries. Porel participated in seven games in the Syed Mushtaq Ali 2023 tournament, scoring 239 runs at a 39.8 average and 152 strike rate.
